Write an Abridged Script!
Hey!
Want to write an Abridged Script, to be featured on this extremely awesome web site? Do you run a movie-related web site that falls somewhere between moderately popular and wildly popular?
If so, read on. I’d like to try out a Guest Writer for a week.
Write an Abridged Script for The Editing Room!
There are a lot of terrible movies out there, and I can’t abridge all of them. Hell, I can’t even afford to watch all of them. If there’s a big summer movie that you think needs the Abridged Script treatment and I missed it, or even if you want to mock something older, you are being invited to do so as a Guest Writer on this site.
Here’s how it works:
- E-mail me using the Contact link at the top of the site. Tell me a bit about yourself, your web site, and what movie you’d like to mock.
- I’ll check out your site and, if you’re a good fit, I’ll ask you to go ahead and write an Abridged Script for the site. I’ll show you how to format it and all of that crap.
- Your Abridged Script will be featured near the top of this site for a few weeks, possibly a month depending on how lazy I am about writing. You can also link back to your own site from your script.
Why bother, you ask? Don’t be such an asshole. A whole lot of visitors will see the script, which will contain a link to your own site. This site regularly hits the front page of Digg and Reddit, and has an Alexa rating in the top 100k. I get about 5,000 unique visitors per day, and when I get linked from Digg or Reddit it spikes to around 40,000 visitors, in case you give a shit about that sort of thing.
If you want me to write a guest post for your site as well, I’m up for it.
If you currently don’t have a blog of your own, don’t bother contacting me about this (for now). If this guest blogging thing goes well, I’ll definitely consider opening it up to more people in the future, but for now I’m looking for a mutual traffic benefit between my site and someone else’s.
So if this sounds even remotely appealing to you, feel free to shoot me a line and we’ll try to work something out.
UPDATE: STOOOOPPPP!! Alright everyone, the response to this was overwhelming. Got a whole bunch of people who were interested. A lot of you didn’t have web sites of your own and were immediately disqualified (sorry, but it’s not like I didn’t mention it). I’ve narrowed down some choices and made some decisions, so you can all stop e-mailing me unless you’re some kind of internet celebrity. Depending on how this goes, I may be more open to guest blogging in the future, so you’ll have your chance to talk about how much you totally hate Tropic Thunder.

August 27th, 2008 at 9:05 pmStarship Troopers 3 is a parody within itself. If rod posted the original script for that movie everyone would still get a good laugh out of it. Sorry to hear about your balls Taephit.

September 3rd, 2008 at 5:16 pmYou know, this is how “Mr. Cranky’s” site got so bad… by letting other people write reviews. I love your site and I hope you have a good screening process to keep up the integrity.
September 9th, 2008 at 7:32 am@Mike
Mr Cranky’s site got bad because Cranky abandoned it and replaced his own reviews with user-submitted ones. I’m not doing that, and I’m not planning on making Guest Writing a frequent thing either, so I’m not too worried.
This is just ‘guest blogging’. Blogs do it all the time, it’s not a big deal.
September 9th, 2008 at 7:50 amIt’s not a blog, but maybe you should talk to the Uncyclopedia guys. They seem fairly decent, and it’s a popular enough site.
